IRINE

Filling the Void: Advancing Immunology Research Since 1989.

A nonprofit founded to fill the gap left by shrinking federal funding for vital immunology research, with particular focus on funding young, fledgling researchers who have no other funding source.

Governance

Governed with Integrity

IRINE is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors composed of medical, legal, financial, and corporate leaders who serve without compensation. Funded primarily through private contributions from pharmaceutical and medical corporations that share our commitment to immunology research and scholarship, IRINE ensures that vital scientific inquiry continues to thrive despite shrinking federal support.

Our Scientific Roots

In 1990, IRINE sponsored a landmark Harvard Medical School lecture by Dr. Marek L. Kowalski on aspirin-induced asthma. This initiative was funded by a grant from the Purdue Frederick Pharmaceutical Company, marking the beginning of our commitment to academic excellence and medical scholarship.

Our research network has been a critical bridge for young scientists. By funding immunology research at Massachusetts General Hospital under Dr. Richard Moscicki, we have supported vital clinical studies. Our contributions were formally recognized with a Massachusetts state proclamation presented by then-Governor Michael Dukakis.

State Proclamation of Recognition

“The Massachusetts State Government hereby recognizes the Immunology Research Institute of New England for its significant contributions to the advancement of medical science and its enduring commitment to the future of immunology research in the Commonwealth.”
